The Bayu Ikat textile showcases the intricate artistry of traditional Indonesian weaving. Crafted using the ikat technique, threads are carefully dyed before weaving, creating distinctive, blurred patterns that reflect skilled craftsmanship. This hand-loomed piece combines cultural heritage with functional elegance. Used as a table linen, scarf, or wall tapestry, it is as versatile as it is beautiful.
In the Biboki Indigenous community, weaving has long been more than an art—it is a sacred tradition, a vital livelihood, and a powerful expression of identity. Upholding this legacy is Maria Imakulata Maneak, leader of the Kelompok Usapi weaving group in Tunbaen Village, Indonesia. Comprising nine weavers, Kelompok Usapi is devoted to safeguarding the Biboki ikat tradition and ensuring its transmission to younger generations.
