Cotton Corte Blanket
Description
The Corte Blanket is made from repurposed from vintage cortes (skirts) worn by Mayan women. Lightweight and yet still soft and cozy, these blankets are versatile around your home. Imagine it as a throw for your sofa, the foot of your bed, a picnic blanket, or even table cloth!
Produced by RUTH AND NAOMI, a sewing and crafts cooperative in Chichicastenango, Guatemala founded by local tailor and Methodist pastor, Diego Chicoj. The cooperative began as a way to provide a source of income to widows of Guatemala’s Civil War. Now, both men and women sew and weave tableware, pillows, and blankets.
