Description

Native to the island of Madagascar, these cheeky lemurs are made of the vetiver plant.

Vetiver is grown in tropical areas, including Madagascar. It has traditionally been used as roofing for the Malagasy people, the indigenous people of Madagascar. The top portion of the plant is grassy, while the root, which can measure 6 meters long, is wiry and coarse. It has a distinct scent which makes it an effective insect repellent and its essence is commonly used in perfumes. The root is washed and dried naturally. To keep its attractive scent, the root fiber remains untreated.

Tahiana Creation promotes artisan craft of the Malagasy people and works to preserve the flora and fauna native to the island.
