Namibian Open Basket -Purple
Description
Made in Namibia from the Baobab tree, this open basket was woven by hand. The purple hue is a natural dye from the Mundulea shrub, a native species.
Produced by Omba Arts Trust, a non profit organization that promotes artisan craft as supplemental income in the home for many Namibian women.
From Omba: "Our artisans and artists live in rural and often very remote settlements. It is helpful for them to earn money while working from home with part-time craft production that ties in with their household responsibilities and seasonal tasks: subsistence agriculture, small-stock farming, fishing, and piecework on communal or commercial farms."
36cm wide.
