Description

The Quinua Peruvian Conopa is a traditional Andean miniature revered in domestic rituals across Peru’s highland communities. These figures are shaped as animals, such as this llama, and symbolize fertility and abundance. Beyond their cultural role, conopas are believed to attract good fortune and possess protective, apotropaic qualities. This authentic piece offers a tangible connection to Andean heritage and spiritual practices, making it a meaningful addition for those interested in indigenous symbolism and cultural preservation.

From our friend and master ceramicist Artemio Poma in Ayacucho, Peru, Peregrin is excited to share a collection of Quinua ceramics. A traditional art developed in the pre-hispanic period in Peru, Artemio conveys his artistic expression and contemporary context through his work.

The natural colors of these ceramics demonstrate the use of raw materials found abundantly in the region. The ceramics typically depict scenes from nature or family life.
