Mayan Hands
San Rafael Placemat
San Rafael Placemat
The elegant San Rafael Placemat is handwoven on the traditional backstrap loom by weavers in Rabinal. Weaving on the backstrap loom, a painstaking process, connects Mayan weavers to their ancestors and represents the continuation and preservation of their traditional cultural and way of life.
Each side of the placemat features intricately woven brocade accents, similar to those that are worn in the intricate huipiles(blouses) worn by women in their community. Sold individually and available in two colors: natural with brown and denim brocade accents, or brown with denim and natural cotton brocade. Mix and match with a coordinating runner.
- 14" x 20"
