Reclaimed Tabletop Riser Centerpiece
Description
Hand-hewn oak from salvaged shipbuilding timbers, this tabletop riser carries the weight and wonder of New England’s maritime past. Each piece is crafted by Chris Gagnon of For You Woodworking in Whitinsville, MA, using wood that spent years submerged in water to naturally hardened into an impenetrable, beautifully textured surface.
Oak salvaged from the Mystic Seaport Museum was used in the restoration of the Charles W. Morgan and the building of the freedom schooner Amistad. Other oak beams were weighted with granite, submerged in a salt water pond at the Charlestown Naval Yard and would be used when a US Naval vessel needed repair. Now referred to as “Constitution Oak”, For You Woodworking reimagines and repurposes these pieces for you right here in the Blackstone Valley, Massachusetts.
Use the riser to add height to your table's centerpiece, showcase your favorite objects, or serve charcuterie with rustic charm. A functional heirloom, shaped by history and handmade with care. Perfect for a dining table or kitchen island.
